I’ll admit it without shame: I only recently like Suzuki Ami’s music solely because Nakata Yasutaka was producing her and together, they made some mad fierce tracks. I actually don’t like her previous pop works but her works with Nakata alone made her one of the top ten artists on my playlist. And I know it’s just not me who has this interest: her Nakata produced Supreme Show album had an almost 20% increase in sales over the average of her previous two studio albums despite not really being promoted insanely more in any way.
When I heard her next single “Reincarnation” wasn’t going to be produced by Nakata, I thought that would be the end of me listening to her… but then I heard m-flo’s Taku was producing her instead. M-flo has some fly tunes, and I thought I’d give it a try before judging.
chatmonchy’s tenth single “Last Love Letter” will be released on February 4th; this single was self produced by the members. As an added incentive, physical copies of the single will allow access onto a website for a sneak preview of the band’s upcoming album. Continue reading
alan’s next single “Gunjou no Tani” (Ultramarine Valley) will be released on February 2nd; this will be her last single preceeding her upcoming as yet untitled album. The song was originally written for the victims of the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake. And no, I did not get lazy with the images – this is the first alan single to not have two different covers for the limited and regular editions.

Fly to High has been running for one year as of today! Thanks to everybody who reads this blog and has supported it to today. (: I’ve put up a new layout – this time featuring the lovely girls of Perfume.
This was my first experience blogging publicly on my own blog. I set up a blog, wrote a little, and decided to see if I would hold enough interest to keep this alive for a week… I never knew I’d be interested in it for a year! While it seems like this “Japanese entertainment blog” is more of a J-pop blog now, I had intended to talk about everything Japanese-related: music, movies, dramas, celebrities, fads… but my interest has been increasingly centered on the music.
Whew! I’ve done a year of drama previews already, and it’s time for 2009’s dramas.
This seems like a fairly weak season, by my picks would be Voice, Zeni Geba, and probably Uta no Onii-san for the laughs. I’m a little late for this season, but nevertheless –

Because this is the new years countdown I really care about. 😀
Arashi were the hosts again this year, and the Tokyo Dome stage used NEWS’ layout since they had dome concerts at the same time. Different was this this year the broadcast was split – KinKi Kids were broadcast from Osaka Dome, and Tackey and Kazukiyo Nishikiori (of Shounentai) were broadcast from the stage of the upcoming Tackey stage show.
