It’s that time of year again! For those who are new to this: Johnny’s releases calendars for their artists every year, but according to the school year: that is, from April of this year to March of the next. All calendars are around 2000 yen and go on sale late February or early March. (Only Arashi and groups that debuted afterwards have calendars – so for big fans of V6, Kinki, or SMAP, sorry.)
Kuroki Meisa is making a physical debut with her album “hellcat“, to be released April 8th. Her previously digital-only single “Like This” will be on it, as well as her new song “Bad Girl” which is used as an insert in the upcoming Crows ZERO II movie. (Why a song about a bad girl is used in a movie where there seemingly are no girls is a question, but let’s ignore that for now…)
I know a lot of people are against the j-pop method of having anyone and everyone famous release music; I’m one of those too. But I’m actually pleasantly surprised at how easily and naturally I took to liking Kuroki Meisa’s first release I loved “Like This“, and was disappointed that her singing career seemed to be a one-song-only deal. But now…

Well, more like quarter-season, but I feel like I’ve watched enough to give some recs. This season’s dramas are (by my standards, at least) unbelievably good. All the ones I’ve watched have English subs, found at, cough, the usual places. (Please don’t ask me how to find subs.)
Here’s my take on them. Since Valentine’s day has just passed, let’s do some rating in hearts! 😀
Mei-chan no Shitsuji – ABSURDLY GOOD. The synopsis doesn’t do it justice! Orphaned Mei is suddenly thrust into high-class school St. Lucia as the heir of the affluent Hongo group with her own S-rank (super talented, and coincidentally super hot) butler. A lot of ridiculous antics from the crazy bitches at the school. All the protagonists are likable characters, there is possible romance and definitely mystery, and seriously crazy creepy antagonists you just shiver to see – this is so far terrific!

In what I consider the biggest upset choice of the year – this year’s anan sex issue’s posterboy is KAT-TUN’s Kamenashi Kazuya.
Unlike previous years (like Yamapi’s risque photos last year) there is no female model and there’s only a tame amount of skin being shown in the photos – the most baring of which only showing Kame’s upper body.
