Unchanging Love ~Kimi ga Ireba~” is JYONGRI’s fifth single, to be released June 4th. The title song was used as the Au Lismo CM song.

While her fast paced “Possesion” is her best known song, I find JYONGRI’s ballads to be her best work. She has a great range, and does very well on power ballads like “Lullaby for You” and”My All For You.”

But I found “Unchanging Love ~Kimi ga Ireba~” to be a very disappointing ballad. The song has a very 80s pop ballad feel, all the way down to the synth backings. The tune is monotone and bland, and doesn’t account for JYONGRI’s vocal capabilities. In every way, it sounds like something filler or a B-side – not something that would be released as a single. Even the PV seems lacking – with most of it just being an animated JYONGRI on a giraffe walking endlessly – even just watching it gets tedious.

Out of her five singles, this is the first time that I’ve been disappointed with a release. The song, the PV – it’s all just boring. The only hope lies in the B-sides – while “Trust&Try” seems like a fairly standard upbeat song, “YOUR SONG” is an Elton John cover and seems like something worth checking out when the single is released. Maybe I have overly high expectations for JYONGRI, but this single is a miss for me.
