JYONGRI’s newest single “Kissing Me” has been released, and I’m really excited to hear it; it’s a great single by any standards. If you haven’t heard JYONGRI before, this is a great place to start, because the single’s three songs that demonstrate three different music styles she uses. And if you’re a fan, you won’t be let down.
By the way, check out the Kissing Me Special Site. There cute little love-related stories and graphics. It’s all in Japanese, but the Love Cooking section has cute pictures of her making an apple pastry. If you’re in Japan you can also enter the “love question” contest – I think it’s for a chance to meet her privately in February.
“Kissing Me” is a fast paced, electronic number with a hauting piano refrain. It’s reminiscent of her biggest hit “Possession” with the atypical but infectious structure, except this time with the strong piano backing that I love. She hasn’t had a great fast song in awhile, but this fills that void easily.
“You’re the One” is a poppy number; sugary, feel-good pop done with a JYONGRI R&B edge. This song actually demonstrates some pretty good vocals on her part, despite being pretty standard.
“Lullaby for You -English Version-” is a gem. I loved her English rendition of “Possession” – hey, it’s nice to sing along sometimes – and it’s nice to see an English ballad this time. I loved the original version and wasn’t sure if it would turn out well. It did. The English fits in smoothly with the song, and although the lyrics have some awkwardness at time, I love it.
This is yet another great single release from JYONGRI. Definitely check it out!
